Contrails.

Privacy

Contrails turns flight histories into shared races. This page explains the information used to provide that experience. Updated September 5, 2026.

Google sign-in and your account

Google sign-in provides your basic identity, including your name, email address, profile image, and Google account identifier. We use this to identify your account and display your racer profile. The authentication system stores account and session records, which can include Google authentication tokens, session expiry, IP address, and browser information. Session cookies keep you signed in.

Flight uploads and races

CSV previews are processed by the server without saving flights to the database. When you confirm an import while signed in, Contrails stores normalized flight records: dates, airline and flight numbers, departure and arrival times when available, aircraft, airports and coordinates, cancellation status, estimated miles, and source identifiers used to match later imports. Raw CSV files, booking references, seats, and notes are not saved as flight records.

Contrails also stores race names, date ranges, ownership, membership, and invite codes. Other members of a race can see your name, profile image, and flights within that race’s date range, including routes and dates. Your full logbook is available to your account. Anyone with an invite code can join a race while space is available, so share invites carefully.

Services used to operate Contrails

The app is hosted by Vercel, with its database hosted by Neon. These services process information needed to run the app and may retain operational logs. Google provides sign-in and the fonts loaded by the site; loading fonts or profile images sends a request to their hosting service. We use account and flight information to provide sign-in, imports, race displays, and standings.

Your information and contact

Saved flights remain available between visits. Re-importing merges records; leaving a flight out of a later CSV does not delete it. To request deletion of your account and associated information, or ask a privacy question, email milanb@gmail.com. We may need to verify that you own the account before acting on a request.
