Contrails is a flight-history visualization and friendly racing app. These terms describe how to use it. Updated September 5, 2026.

Your account and uploads

Use your own Google account and upload flight information you have permission to share. Review import warnings and check your records for accuracy. Keep your own copy of your flight history; Contrails is not a booking system or an archival service.

Sharing a race

Joining or creating a race shares your racer profile and flights within its date range with the other members. Share invite links only with intended participants. Do not misuse another person’s flight information, impersonate others, or attempt to access accounts or races without authorization.

Understanding the display

Miles are approximate great-circle distances between airports in statute miles. They do not represent actual flown routes, airline award miles, or status credits. Animated aircraft and timelines illustrate imported records; they are not live tracking, flight operations, or navigation information. Canceled flights and flights after the current UTC date do not score. The public demo uses fictional racers and flights.
